Talking about SFI does not have to be so hard. You don't have to "hard sell" SFI. By that I mean that it sells itself. Just let people know about it and read about it on the SFI site and they will know if it is for them. And if not, that's okay too - it won't be for everyone.
I find it difficult to sell things to friends and family. Their rejection would bother me more than that of strangers. I sometimes mention what I am doing. After a while some of them want to know what I am interested in and I can tell them - never asking them to join, just showing what I am doing and offering a Gift Card if they seem interested.
I purchased a handful of PSAs to get started. I don't know them, so if they don't want to work with me it doesn't hurt my feelings, plus they already showed an interest by signing up. I practiced with them, answering questions, sending team mails to let them know I'm here if they need me, and that gave me more confidence.
Buying a S-Builder Unit has given me a few more and I feel more comfortable talking to each new member - practice does help.
If all else fails, practice having conversations with imaginary people - using a mirror can help. Don't worry about being perfect - perfection tends to scare people away. Just be yourself and you will do fine!
