There are all kinds of different ways of staying in touch, but the first contact should be through e-mail if possible. Although some of your PSAs and CSAs may be too intimidated or have other reasons not to include their real e-mail address when they sign up, so it's pretty much impossible to contact them unless they come on the site and log in. Also with some it's impossible to know if they're receiving your e-mails because they just don't respond no matter what you do.
Don't let this discourage you though. Try doing a search for their name on Facebook or Skype and if they have an account, it should come up. Then you can try adding them as a friend and just send them a friendly note letting them know that you're their sponsor/cosponsor and they may add you.
Once you've made the initial contact with them, look at their VP ledger and see what kind of activity, if any, they have. Then suggest that they do the getting started actions, and if they're not sure how to proceed, or act as if they need more help, just guide them to the start, SFI basics, Launchpad, and SFI Rules of Success.
After they start doing well on their own, I would keep it to no more than once every two or three days in the stream, and once a week team mail. Also keep in touch through chat on Facebook and skype or Twitter as needed or if you catch them online and want to, you can send them a chat request and just say hello and ask if they need any help.
It's always a good idea to keep the lines of communication open to all your team mates, but for those who need the most help, be there for them as often as you can and keep them motivated and encouraged. Just don't bombard them with so much that they get overwhelmed, which would defeat the purpose.
