Too much and unnecessary communication is any communication that does not serve a purpose to educate, exhort, or edify your network. Never send information just for the sake of sending information. Send useful tidbits that can be easily digested and followed. Typically, I use a combination of the stream and the PSA/CSA mailer to do this. For example if you are testing a new traffic generating source you can put the details of your efforts in a team mail. However to congratulate a team member for achieving a milestone a stream post will do.
Be careful not to expect too much from your network. We work with many people from a varied background of computer experience. Some are completely novices and others are adept at using computers and the internet. It really helps when you can work one on one with an affiliate that is having a particular issue that can be addressed directly. In this case, a simple stream post that reminds your network of your availability will suffice. Communication is imperative but it must be received with open ears. If the message is too loud your network will tune you out! Always respond to those who reach out and presume the others are either studying to act or inactive. Be available.
