In my opinion. You can only do your best to maintain  and build rapport with those who are open minded  and  receptive  and are still eager to give it another shot before you go and try your level best to nurture ,motivate and support them as the saying goes that  you can  take a horse to water but you can't make it drink   Likewise. If the other party is not a willing party then it will be fruitless to push too hard as it really takes two hands to clap so don't be discouraged if they really wanna quit as they may be not ready but if they are still keen after sharing and clearing whatever doubts they have then do your best. To nurture and encourage them and reward them in some ways if it is possible
