I suppose it all deepens on your family members. It can be great, at least that's the situation in my case anyway.
I read all the answers for this particular question and they are all good but there was one thing I didn't quite agreed upon. Many of them said that you should wait until you were an established member, and I say scratch that. Why wait?
We all have to learn the same things, why don't do that together?
Like I already said, I have a family member in my team, my sister joined only two weeks after me, and we work great together. Don't get me wrong it can be difficult, when you have to deliver some bad news, etc. But on the other hand nobody knows her better then I do, and I think that's very important for a team leader to know his PSA's and how to speak to them in any occasion.
If you're already tight then you could get through anything, good and bad.
So, I would like to finish with this questions. Do you think you should recruit your family members? What's your gut telling you?
IF the answer is yes, that you should,then go for it, this whole experience could be so much more with them involved, but if you have doubts, then don't do it.
