One of the best uses of email autoresponders is to gently remind affiliates / prospects about how fantastic SFI is. You can periodically schedule “reminder” emails to affiliates / prospects who haven’t visited or logged in recent memory or perhaps to encourage them to log in. Further, for reminding them about their accounts or profiles, a trick that you can use is to send an autoresponder that asks them to “update” their email marketing preferences. This encourages them to login to their SFI account.
Without further ado, here are some pointers for you to take into consideration:
1. Start by thanking the person for joining or requesting information. This immediately separates your message from spam.
2. Fill your autoresponders SFI/TripleClicks product/service updates, news about new releases, your observations, or links to useful information your affiliates / prospects will be interested in.
3. Three (3) to Four (4) messages will work just fine. 7, 10, 15, 20 spaced out over time can do a phenomenal job of keeping customers, affiliates, and prospects informed and interested until they buy, opt-in, or become more active.
4. Keep it short and simple about 200 words. Your subject line should be 3 or 4 words that sum up your message. The first message might have “Thanks for requesting information from YouSite.com.” The next could be “Why shopping at TC can save you 25%” and the next “Why people love PriceBenders Live Auctions.” and include direct links.
5. Have the first message go out immediately. Have the next 3 go out one each day while the affiliate / prospect is still hot. Have the rest spaced out every few days, then one a week, one every two weeks, then one per month for several months. Views differ on how often messages should be delivered to prospects. A lot of it depends on what kind of customers you have and how much email intensity they’re used to. Some Internet Marketers send out several messages per day while others will hit you with a message per day for a few days, take a break, then go back to frequent messages. It takes some customers months or years before they’re finally ready to buy or Opt in.
6. Structure your emails to be a "Next Step" email. It's a very direct pitch for whatever you want the reader to do next. It could be a survey or even a trial of a product or service. But stick to a rule of thumb of 80% content / 20% pitch. Rather than pitching in every message, make deposits first for 3 to 4 messages of pure, helpful content. In other words Zero pitch, like the benefits of signing up for S-Builder shares, or the benefits of advertising, or why it is important to have PSA's, or what are the benefits of TCredits. But remember when you do pitch, in the "Next Step" message, be direct. Be obvious about what you want them to do next. You can only pitch in this way, if you've earned the right to do so by providing relevant and helpful content up to this point, meaning you have enough deposits.
A "deposit" is any message that helps your customer / affiliate / prospect solve a relevant problem or provides guidance or assistance without asking them to give you anything in return. Deposits can be in many forms such as: Checklists, Free reports, How-to videos, etc... Or simply a message that spoon feeds some of the information you previously gave them.
