I always start with the obvious, and state to them that
when they sell something, they get paid.

All the other features like matching points and downline commissions are not effective until they develop and teach their downline, but the "sell something, get paid commission" can give immediate results they can see.

Once they understand this then encourage them to build downline and see that the "You tell 2 people and they tell 2 people, and they tell 2 people" pyramid can lead to many years of residual income with unlimited downline potential.
