To begin with, not everyone who joins SFI will decide to be active no matter what you do. Try to get qualified leads, if possible, by advertising to the right people and using the right techniques. There is training on this at the SFI website. If you can't get quality leads, get lots of them. Some will; some won't; that's life.
The best people to sponsor are people that live near you. It is easier to instruct them and have relationship with them. In any event, relationship and good advice is super important. If you can develop good communication with people you sponsor, your chances of motivating them improves. They will be more active if you are active. Do what you would like them to do. Lead by example.
Learn as much as you can about SFI, TripleClicks, being an ECA, advertising, and getting leads. Give incentives and set up contests to encourage your affiliates to grow. I give TCredits to anyone who becomes an executive affiliate to encourage them to use TripleClicks. I offer free spots in my co-op for affiliates who are struggling. I set up contests for those who attain three straight months at the 1500+ VP level with a standing order. I tell them that I am looking for five leaders and will reassign some good affiliates to them when they reach this level and are ready.
So far I have two great leaders and have helped them to sponsor and train leaders.
