Let us look at this question from a totally different perspective.

Whether you have personal goals or team ones, you are always going to be reliant on something or someone to help you achieve your ambition and this is also true in business. The extent to which you receive that help will vary with people but it is a fact that you will be supported in your achievements by one or many stimuli.

For example, your parents are a source of great support to you if you decide to become a competitive swimmer-they will encourage, get you motivated to train, pay for your coach to improve your strokes and sacrifice their time to ensure that you have the right atmosphere for your training. Of course much more investment goes into your training than what I have mentioned and "you" take up the challenge and work towards that dream. Without your input, your parents have nothing to show for as your achievement!

In the same context, your sponsor takes on a similar support role but it is not going to be entirely his/her responsibility to ensure that you are successful. You have to work your business. Without your input, your business will not be what you expect it to - successful.

Your sponsor can only do so much. Some of us do not have a Sponsor therefore you cannot rely on him/her. Perhaps less than 2-5% of your success will depend on your Sponsor; 95% of what you do will impact on your business. This is not to say that the 5% from your Sponsor is irrelevant-it is important but it does not mean that you cannot hit the finishing line by yourself. It all depends on you and what you want - how strong do you finish.

This would be a cumulative effect of the lessons you learn from your sponsor, the hardships you face to learn the business, your motivation and passion to want to succeed that will make your business successful. Your determination and commitment towards it will determine how well you progress not so much of how reliant you are on your sponsor.

You cannot make anyone do anything in SFI or otherwise unless they want to. This is a fact of life. Communication forms the key to your question. You can advise, mentor, guide, provide encouragement and motivate with various incentives and do your best to highlight the potential of such a program. However, when it comes to taking a decision, it remains with the individual who has signed up with SFI.

1. There are various methods provided by SFI (team-mail, chat, stream, email, e-cards) that helps you start a conversation with the new sign ups. This is the first point of contact you have with them. However, you will be left with an inactive affiliate unless you communicate in simple terms.

2. The other option is to reassign the sign ups to down lines where they will not be any language barriers so they can communicate easily-it helps to inform them why you are doing this.

3. Use gift certificates to motivate; however, as I mentioned earlier, you cannot make anyone do anything. There are instances when these have not been utilized and the gift certificates are returned to the Sponsor.

It is important to also recognize that whilst you are trying every possible means to get your affiliates to remain active, keep in mind the reasons why the affiliate has joined the program. In most cases, the people you recruit are not known to you and therefore you can only begin to communicate with your sign-ups if they respond to you. If you can generate a conversation with your affiliates without bombarding them with a lot of SFI stuff, this may create a relationship with your affiliates that will enable you to get them to start becoming active.

These are some of the areas I would touch on when talking about SFI as a working opportunity.

- I never had an E Commerce Store but it has been possible with TripleClicks which is an associate arm of SFI.

- I have never earned online but with SFI I have received"real" money. I have a debit card which holds my SFI commissions in US$

- I have purchased 28 products through TripleClicks and this tells you that it is safe to buy online;

- I have a team that I have gradually built and am still building to ensure that my future residual income is guaranteed - these are real people on SFI and you can meet them to verify that this is not a scam

There are plenty of reasons I can find to talk about why a prospect should join SFI but you must also remember that you might come across people whose needs are not all the same. For instance you may find a prospect who is only interested in becoming an ECA and this means that you should talk to them about TripleClicks as an earning opportunity, others might work both SFI and TripleClicks or only the former. It is upto you to decide what you will say when!

Your 1 hour can be used effectively to handle the very important tasks that you must accomplish before the SFI clock turns into another day. Keep in mind the time differences because you could easily lose out if you are not aware of this. The Do's and Dont's in this 1 hour are:

Do
1. Complete all your Daily Tasks and take a sneak preview of the Alerts Tab which has all the important news at a glance. Gain over 10 VPs daily to participate in competitions (Daily Grand) and ensure that you set an example to your team. This is where the ball starts rolling. This should take you at least 15 minutes.

2. Keep aside 20 minutes to talk, email, chat to prospects while you are on your daily chores. This is an important aspect of your business and although I say 20 minutes, whenever you have extra time left within the hour, advertise your business!

3. 10 minutes should be set aside to participate in competitions and games which actually help to build your business and keeps you in the picture of which games you can use to attract more PRMs. This is not a waste of time because when you win a game like Card King, you receive between 12-15 T Credits depending on the day's Zackpot. It does not take a lot of T Credits to win a game.

4. Communicating with your Movers is important and you should devote at least 10 minutes to reply to their queries, keep them informed of any new ideas you might have to improve their performance.

5. The remaining time you have, go back to SFI and send out a few e-card postcards to prospects.

DONT's

1. Leave your 1 hour to the end of your day because you will be tired from whatever other commitments you have and it can happen that you might miss out on your daily points.

2. Expect to get 2 hours of income from 1 hour's work.

3. Set yourself unrealistic targets with only 1 hour of work in SFI because you will never achieve them.

4. There is a lot to learn from SFI and 1 hour per day is not enough so do not expect that you will master the business concept with the time you have. This means it will take you longer to earn.

Any business you enter whether it is online or offline. It requires a certain level of commitment and I feel that 1 hour is not sufficient dedication to achieve the income that you are dreaming of.

1. Have a group of 6/10 people in your local area and organize a get-together to present the SFI opportunity. You are likely to receive active affiliates from this group faster than adopting online methods of marketing. This is keeping in mind that not everyone is familiar with how to advertise where!

2. Get your Sponsor to explain the SFI concept to this group because you are fairly new and may not have answers to all the questions the group will ask.

3. Convince the group to have a Standing Order (SO) in their 1st month and you can offer an incentive such as a Gift Certificate for the first 5 who will place a SO.

4. If you can use these 6/10 affiliates to recruit in a similar manner, you are already setting up a strong base for your network - this is why you are in SFI.

5. Recruiting within your own territory has definite advantages over other options and if you can tap into this segment of your population, you are likely to have a better success rate in terms of getting active people.

6. Regular communications with your network of affiliates adds value to your business and enhances better rapport between team members. Group discussions encourages those who may have doubts about the business.

7. Expand your network through your online shop - talk to your friends and family who are likely to be interested in your new venture.

You can always think up of your own marketing plan that will help you and your team grow.

What is encouragement? It is a push you provide to your team members and tell them, you are there to lend a hand if need be.

You may not have all the answers but know what it feels like to go down one level in rank (if that is what you mean by demotion) and it is interesting that when this happened to me, it was probably my lowest moment in SFI. I felt a series of emotions, one main one being wanting to give up SFI.

How did I receive encouragement to stay afloat - it was not my Sponsor but one of my upline members to whom I opened up and let my feelings known. Of course I was feeling terrible and his words at that time left me with no other alternative but to stay on with SFI.

- stay with your affiliates and do not wait for your upline team members to open up the line of communications; you voice out your feelings and your upline team members will respond;

- it is important to focus on what will transpire next rather than what has happened (demotion); perhaps if you take it as a lesson and move forward, it will deepen your experiences later and give you the opportunity to understand why you felt demoted;

- there is a common principle about success and failure which highlights that for one success you might have to fail 10 times and this is okay, to fail is the start to your success;

- if it helps the affiliate, console them by giving away free shares of the Co-Op if you are running this (my upline did this for me and it brought in active affiliates in my team and I forgot about the demotion)

Try to be as positive about this as you can - forget what happened and concentrate on what will happen. That is the best way to deal with this scenario.

Having been lucky myself to have a one-team member with me when I just started and having had the experience with other members who do not have a team, I have mixed feelings regarding taking up a leadership role without a team.

You could argue that you can become a Team Leader and then develop your team as you move forward because you will become an example to your team. However, you run the risk of getting discouraged if you do not get active members under you within the first couple of months of your joining SFI. This is particularly frustrating if you are investing in SFI by way of a Standing Order and your return on investment is not showing at all.

We currently have affiliates who have invested continuously for a period of time and not received any returns, and they are Bronze Team Leaders (BTL). At times, they have found it difficult to maintain their rank and this can be very demoralizing.

In view of the above, I would strongly suggest that you decide whether it is wise to become a BTL and then develop a team that you are sure will become active or start advertising for affiliates and then ensure that they help you qualify as a team leader. This will not only bring in an income but you are all set to build a strong foundation for your business. Remember your progress is a guideline for your team members so however you proceed, always take up a positive outlook as this will be an inspiration for your team members.

When we join SFI, the culture of earning residual income is impressed upon us and that the work you do now, today, will earn you income in years to come.

The foundation of your SFI income is built upon a strong team of affiliates that you will mentor, lead and guide them to build their own team - this is the basis of duplication. When you have achieved this through team building year in year out without giving up, you are ensured of income that continues to flow in much after your retirement.

The bottom line remains your level of commitment to SFI now. This is the foundation upon which you build your long term business. And when you have equally committed individuals in your team at various generation levels, your beneficiaries are guaranteed that income, without any doubt.

I feel that most people shy away and feel that it is not in their nature or they do not have the ability to market a product or service but you will be amazed to note that this is not entirely a true perception. We all have some in-built qualities that has not been nurtured or developed and this is why we feel we cannot market.

I speak from experience because I was always under the impression that I would never be able to market or convince someone to see how good my products were. It is all in your hands. This is why it is difficult to teach someone what they already have in them but here are a few tips.

1. Learn your product(s) and/or services that you are marketing well. Know everything you have to know because this will increase your confidence when you talk about your product (SFI or any other product on TripleClicks).

2. Do not be afraid of rejections from people, this happens all the time. Do not take it personally. The customer has the right of choice and if you market with a positive attitude, you will see opportunities more than rejections.

3. Usually point out the benefits to your customers - this way you focus on the customer's needs and not on the fact that you would like to sell a product or close a deal.

4. Do not judge people, the person you least expect to join your team will probably turn out to be the most active. Therefore do not leave certain segments out of your reach.

5. There are many points I could put up but this one is the most important. Your communications online with your prospects must be flawless - this is how you will be judged and the organisation of which you are a part of. Pay attention to your language online, it is very important to portray a professional image at all times.

There is a general belief within the SFI fraternity that you should advertise for 100s or 1000s of affiliates before you will come across 1 or 2 active affiliates. This requires capital and many people who come to SFI do so in the hope that they will earn money.

A lot of affiliates have difficulty with the cash investment whether this is a standing order or advertising and it is advisable therefore to focus on alternative methods of building a team. This is not limited to but can include:

1. Having small groups of people you know, friends and family - are a great start to present your SFI business and this does not require much investment. An evening of coffee in an informal environment starts off your quest for that "dream" team.

2. If you are creative enough, it is useful to participate in fairs where you are able to share space with another participant to talk about your business; you can design your own charts and posters for such events without spending a lot.

3. You must have a list of contact emails of people you have known in the past either through your work or other friends and use this database to start up a conversation; it is likely to create an interest.

You can always try out your own tactics and see which ones work the best. It is a question of spreading your interest where others fear to venture and find out whether which ones of your advertising incentives are bringing in active sign ups.
