How do you get new PSAs to commit to SFI?

From what I have observed, a new PSA who is really serious about what they want from SFI will easily commit to the cause. An example of a new PSA, who is certainly just skimming through Internet websites, is one who signs up, and does not log in again. Unfortunately many new PSAs are in this category.
On the other hand if the new PSA writes a message of commitment to you then it is better to help that affiliate by supporting him or her in the early stages. Start by guiding the PSA through the training material that is readily available on their homepage and avoid overwhelming them with information and putting pressure on them to do this or that. It follows that an affiliate who is not able to log in after day one will also not be able to read the material. You are guiding or supporting them but you cannot do the reading for them!
If you have a Co-op, give the new PSA a chance to join, to enhance their own path in building a team. Overall learn to communicate effectively with the new PSA as first impressions can either turn a person on or off!

Why is it important to have team members to take on leadership roles?

In the terminology of SFI, I suppose by “leadership role”, you are presumably implying any one from Bronze Team leader (BTL) to Platinum Team Leader (PTL).
I believe every member of a team is a potential leader and should therefore always be ready or prepare him or herself for that role. In life, a leader is a person who leads by example and who has a vision and qualities those around him or her would like to emulate. It must be said that in this sense, leadership is not necessarily a title but then holding a title requires one to fulfil the responsibilities that go with it. Therefore if you are BTL and above you are holding a position in your team that requires your downline to look to you as a source of inspiration. It follows that since your PSAs or CSAs are also potential leaders, they must learn the traits of leadership and you as a team leader you should be the best example. It is not a good example to have a team leader who has no members. It is like a very good teacher standing in an empty classroom! When your team members become team leaders it shows that “duplication” is working and apart from that they are also contributing to your own success.

Are there any shortcuts to success in SFI for new affiliates?

I think you should first define what you mean by success. Once you have got that right then you will find that success is usually aimed at achieving set goals and those goals can only be reached through a given time frame. On the SFI Tips page, we are constantly reminded, “Success has Rules.” Quite often the lack of success is due to the inability of oneself to commit to working tirelessly and smartly towards meeting the set goals. We may not achieve all our goals in a given time frame but this is where a period of reflection and review comes in. You look at what has gone wrong, learn from your mistakes and continue the journey. You only become a failure if you give in and lie down.
What may look like a short cut will sooner than later turn out to be a false start and reveal what you have not mastered. In summary just study your training material and be prepared to question on what is unclear. You can ask your sponsor, your upline or SFI support. You can also participate in the Forum and of course you can put your question to ASK SC!

Why is setting goals so important in becoming successful in SFI?

This is a question that we should all ask ourselves. This applies not just to earning income but also to nearly all aspects of our lives. Setting goals helps to address the following questions:
1. What do I want?
2. Why do I want it?
3. How I am going to get it?
4. What steps should I take to get there?
5. Do I have both short and long term plans?
It goes without saying that if you do not set yourself goals it is difficult to know where you are going and you can spend a vast amount of time drifting. It is not a bad idea to log on every day to your homepage but it is equally important that you have objectives and set yourself both short and long term plans. I have noticed that so many affiliates have joined my team and done extremely well in the first or two months. When they have achieved Executive Affiliate status, they ask me when they are going to get the commissions and when they see what they get, most of them give up. It is not what they were expecting. They were hoping to make a lot of money in a short time. Unfortunately, success also has rules and one cannot become a millionaire overnight. When we set goals we have to be realistic and also consider how much time or money we are willing to invest in developing our business. You have to walk before you can run and when you start running don’t run too fast as you may get hurt.
In summary setting goals is good for your business as you can always review your targets and see where improvements can be made or where you have been too optimistic.

Since SFI has been around for many years, is the playing field fair for someone who have just started in SFI like me?

Just like in many aspects of our lives, it does not really matter what you are today but it matters what you will become. And I think so it is when you join SFI. It is a fair playing field and we all have a chance to succeed. It may not look like it when you start but you should focus on the future. Some of the top enrollers today, have only been with SFI for a year. I am sure you too can be what you want to be as long as you work on your goals. Some say experience is the best teacher and we can learn from those who have been there for a long time but our input is just as important.

What kinds of contests do your affiliates seem to respond best to?

I have run about three contests in my team and I have noticed that if you want your affiliates to participate, the contest must be creative and competitive. In a contest that encourages every PSA or CSA to become EA, with Tcredits as rewards, those who are already EA feel left out and complain. So as a leader, you first need to determine who should take part and what kind of contest it should be. Make your contest such that it appeals to the affected PSAs or CSAs. In terms of rewards, I have seen that affiliates like Tcredits. This is because they can use them at PriceBenders auctions.
Other attractive contests include encouraging your PSAs or CSAs to sponsor new affiliates. Give the reward to the one who sponsors the highest number of affiliates in a given period. This type of contest appeals even to those who already EAs. After you have run one or two contests, you will be able to gauge the response of your team and decide what type of contests to run.
