An effective method is to do a search online for the most popular and best selling items. That way you already know the market and you have the products readily available.
I believe you should by aware of the season you are in. In sub-sahara Africa it is rainy season, hence, here you factor in things like beverages and footwears and the likes that will be in high demand.
What does your group of friends prefer to spend their money on?
And, what are the items that your close/immediate neighbors might like to purchase from your website instead of driving down to the nearest shopping mall ?
Replying to these two questions correctly automatically gives you the answer you seek.
The sheer number of products is already an answer in itself. In my very personal opinion, you cannot determine what to promote based on the product. You can best promote what people need and/or want. So this depends on the market you want to deal with. i.e. Jewelery, Cosmetics, baby products, kitchen gadgets etc., for a specific group and so on. Secondly I would choose a product that brings out the best in me. for instance I love reading and writing, I can make a good book review, so this will be my thing. I can do wonders with cosmetics, so I know how to give it the top most detail. Other than that all products are good and saleable. Well, this is just one approach to good selling.

First, best products to promote are those that interest you the most because they are the ones that you would be most comfortable promoting, especially if you are using them yourself. For example, I use the cleaning products and can confidently tell others how they work for me. Personal testimonials are the biggest selling point.
Secondly, if you have a blog or website, promote items most tied to the topic. For example, if I had a website or blog about dogs, I would promote the pet shampoo, dog collars, dog collar accessories and some of the books and e-books about dogs that are available

I do a proper research to find out what the market really needs or wants. Then I present it to the market and they buy immediately because I am presenting what they really want.
This method saves my time and makes it easier for me to sell products here.
