I think a splash page to promote SFI must have an opt-in box on it as the number one requisite. This should be on the right side of the page, fairly close to the top. Having an opt-in box/form will ensure that you harvest a person's email address. If they don't join straight away, you can at least follow them up with emails and keep them informed of what is happening, your own successes, or someone else's if you haven't had any yet.

Also offering them something for free if they join your team would be a good incentive. This free gift should be something that will help them in their SFI business and preferably something of real value. If you already have the product for sale on TripleClicks, you can show them what other SFI members are paying for it. A picture of the product and a brief description of the benefit to the person of having this should go on the right hand side of the splash page, I think, but definitely above the fold.

A photo of yourself could also be on the page, so that people know that you are a real person and that you will be looking after them if they join you.

Keep the layout simple with only a small number of colours. Don't have animation or big pictures that take too long to open. People get frustrated with things that open slowly and if you're advertising on Safelists and TEs people only see your page for about 20 seconds to get their credits. They must be able to grab what it's about in those 20 seconds.

Splash pages are an introductory page to your Web site. They typically offer one or two of the following features:

Splash pages can be very popular, especially for designers, as they are a way to show your skills in Flash and other technologies on a single page. But before you run out and build your own splash page, you should consider all the pro et contra.

They are a great way to show off your best work, like a portfolio. But, many readers don't like splash pages - and in some studies nearly a quarter of visitors left a site right after seeing a splash page.

While the flash movie or fancy animation may look really nice, the impression they make may be one of pretentiousness.

Most people them annoying. They don't like to link to them. Many do not recommend them, but will leave you to decide that for yourself.

This is not a topic that is widely used. I mean their design. Requires some specific knowledge, which should be invested in this. Therefore, I think that many people do not know the term "splash". For them it is something that will, or will not, carve to their memory.

I still remember an animation that appeared on the website, which I used on a daily basis. I was so annoyed, that I remember it, but it's always caused me a negative feeling.

But that's just my opinion and example.

You may have a few things you should avoid and reinforce others, for instance;

Avoid to copy slogans, images for any make money sites.
Avoid using messages offering "getting rich fast"

The use of these things may mislead your prospects and make the walk away or in case they decide to try they may build false expectation, giving you in both cases wrong results.

Emphasize the solid background of SFI and TripleClicks and their members.
Emphasize success stories among your team, you may look upline or downline your genealogy, be sure to speak with them to let them know about it, and even get some facts about their life and success within SFI.

You may want to use a short embedded video to show these.

Use a simple straight forward format, very professional, pointing toward the niche you want to approach, Young adults, second incomers, housewives etc.
Sometimes would be better to have different designs made up for each niche.

Don't use excessive colors and graphics on your theme. and if your plan to use this as a opt in page, be careful to use solid good information that is worth reading, and that is really worthy to sign for.

At the end you should have:
1.- Original own name and domain,
2.- Use a simple but professional theme,
3.- Straight forward information directed to specific niche,
4.- Use embedded video to tell facts about the company and success stories of teammates, and
5.- An opt in form that offers truly worthy information.

If you see the new login page, you'll understand better the spirit of what we should promote.

Design is a picture produced to show the look and function of an object before it is built. And to become your design most effective, you must setup a certain criteria or guides base on functionality, quality and usability.

On my point of view, designing an effective splash page must be considered these 3 top criteria:
1. Interesting
Your Splash Page must have a significant representation that everyone catches their attention once viewed. These could be words, phrases, pictures, symbols, objects or anything that makes your design page curious.

2. Uniqueness
Your Splash Page must be different among other related advertisement. Your page must be original, creative, artistic, and good eye perception.

3. Simplicity
Your Splash Page must be simple as much as possible. Omit needless words, pictures or objects. Less but better! Simple design tends to be more aesthetically pleasing. It helps us to get things easily pictured and understand the whole content of the page.

If I have to design an SFI Splash Page, here’s the picture:
In one side, a man giving something like paper, brochure or books to a group/row of people and at other side, those people who received paper, brochure or books go to an ATM to in cash what they have in their hands. Between these 2 pictures is a huge and interesting word – HOW? Join Me!!!

So the picture/design is interesting, how those people make these papers/books into money. It is very simple to understand the word “HOW? Join Me!!!” and the idea is unique.

This is I think the most effective design for a Splash Page to promote SFI.

Splash Pages are very effective in catching leads....but using it to the maximum effectiveness is always a challenge for anyone......I consider few points always before creating a splash page...

1. The color combinations....It is very important to put a pleasant color combination on your splash page. Otherwise it is very unlikely people will stay on your page even after one look

2. Put the best and Free offers in bold and little bigger font at the top of the page....also at the bottom of the page. Include all contests, Bonuses everything...

3. Put your pleasant picture just above the subscribing option.....People love real picture than animated one to receive newsletter.

4. Create separate Splash Pages for SFI, Auction and TC. Merging all will lead to decrease in conversion rate.

5. Never put so many contents inside to pack the page......A little empty space can be more eye catching. Also people want to read less not more...

A very Interesting question. For a beginner, a Splash Page is an Introduction Page that you promote to get more hits to your webpage. This page has to be the most attractive page so that you can induce more people to hit your webpage.

Your Splash Page has to be visually appealing. They must contain the following to attract more and more people to your site.

1. Animation
2. Sound
3. Videos
4. Graphics

We must also keep in mind that Splash Pages takes longer time to load and are not recommended for people using low bandwidth.

I appreciate practical questions like this, since many people never did any marketing online and many techniques may not be very obvious at the beginning.

The key for a good splash page is to make it visually appealing and of a right size.

Let me elaborate - few years back we had a program EyeEarn, it was the predecessor of Wave3, one of the images to advertise that program was the picture of an attractive lady in EyeEarn T-shirt in front of the car with our logo. That splash page created more hits than any other splash page I have ever created.

Most splash pages are used in traffic exchanges, viewers have only a few seconds to look at your page. Also you have to remember, that most of them not even looking to join other businesses, they just want to earn credits to advertise their business. So in order to have a chance to attract them, we need to have really standing out image.

Another point to consider, is that most splash pages would be opened in relatively small sized window. So the page we create has to be made accordingly, we really don't want them to start scrolling our page for more information. We just want them to click on it!
