I design my own sites and blog for my SFI business and always have.

I use my own words - copywriting for my sites. For the signup link on the site, it sends them to my sfi gateway page.I use a different key code for each.

My personal sites convert much better than the "stock" sfi pages.

In creating exposure to your business so that you can effectively sponsor affiliates, you want to advertise through conventional means as well as on the internet.

Advertisements direct traffic to your gateways, prestigious domain names, and a website if you have one.

Your gateways, and pretigious domain names (which redirect to your gateway) will sponsor people. They will either "join" for free, or close the window. As SFI training references point out, a large number of these are merely looking aroun--even if it is that one time only for only 5 or 10 minutes.
The strategy here, is that you have a chance to contact them through email provided they opted in/whitelisted SFI. Possibly through a series of letters you may reach them; or you may not.

Having a website is valuable because you can do many things with it. Obviously you want to refer people to SFI. You can convey that message even if you have one page!

One of the benefits of the webpage is that allows you to create trust and rapport with your leads. Internet networking experts point out that there is a better success rate with affiliates if they first can somehow feel comfortable with you and trust you.

Gaining a contact's confidence and trust can be done through keeping a blog on your website (with fresh and useful information), and through having them opt in to an email campaign. The email contain should provide valuable and helpful information for your contact. Perhaps you can point out the value of income diversification or time leveraging. Information about retirement preparation, business ownership, or networking/affiliate marketing. The information should be useful. As they read your email campaign tidbits, they will gain confidence in you, and you will begin to gain their trust--this is called, "building credibility."

At some point you can begin to direct them to your SFI gateway. Suggest that they join AND contact you with any questions. Once the credibility has been established, you will demonstrate your personal interest by inviting them to contact you as they join.

A website allows you to build some sort of relationship between you and your contact, it allows you to garner, not only quality leads, but "ready" affiliates!

Do you need to have your own website (if so, why) or are the Gateway websites provided by SFI adequate?

In my case, I'm just using the SFl gateways. So far, so good. The thing is when it comes to sales it's a combination of luck and industriousness that's really necessary.
1.Are you putting in enough time into the business? - Don't just come as you wish. This is a day-to-day activity, remember? Do follow-ups twice, thrice or more for each target clientele.
2.Are you getting the right targets for the right items? -Don't sell more of those elecronic items to the oldies who are more into the reading and crocheting activities? In other words you should be into the right demographics each time you advertise a product?
3.Are you following your targets daily? -Some people just don't see the importance of a gadget or an item the first time around. You need to reintroduce it to them twice, thrice and sometimes even more before they realize the need.;
4. Are you penetrating more clientele than ever? -Since the internet world is a vast expanse of clients, I think more targets are still available and untouched. It's really up to us to really penetrate this big bubble.
Website or Gateways? It all depends on how you do it and how dedicated you are with the business.

One thing to remember is you have to get people to go there, so whether it is the free gateways, and the prestige domain names you can get from SFI or your own website (which will have costs associated with it and maintenance)
The same process of advertising is the variable to be considered.

If you the advertise and get people to go to your website, yet again you have to get them to SFI which seems like you have more work to get them to push that second button from your website to SFI.

So I suggest you just focus on good ads getting them to SFI.

I have done it both ways and the website has NOT boosted the rate and costs money and upkeep.

The gateways are many they look the same,so the online spiders see them as the same site,so having your own website you will look different,so be creative and brand yourself and advertise like crazy!

I was drawn to SFI through one of it's gateways. Therefore they work. And I have had great success in building a team of PSA's through these same gateways. Therefore they work. Because I have very little computer skills I am thrilled that I was given ready made gateways to use otherwise I would never have been able to stick with SFI.
I have great admiration for those computer minded affiliates who can make their own websites and manage them which is what they should do since they know how, but for struggling computer people like me, the SFI gateways is all I need.

The Gateway websites are a great tool.
I think everyone is missing one important tool and that is the premade web sites and your own priviate domains that you can purchase thru triple clicks.
These are very easy to use, set up and maintain.
It is also very low cost and provides you Versa Points. I use mine with a standing order to keep it up to date monthly.

Having your own website for marketing is the best, but it requires a lot of toil updating it, designing it etc.

Also the Gateway websites provided are all easy to understand and contains all necessary information in lucid simple language.

So, I would recommend to use Gateway websites if you don't want to be in more harassing.

Really that is all up to you but with your own web site you can promote SFI and tripleclicks products on it to try to make sales or you could do like I did and buy a domain name and url forward it to SFI like I have bestbusinessoffer.com forward to SFI.

You also could try bidding on a custom domain from SFI auctions there GREAT also I have won them 11 times also. But you cannot url forward them there already at SFI and you just hook them up to a product or service SFI offers to people.

Gateway websites provided by SFI are absolutely adequate with their own spcifications. Having your own website is not that easy if you don't have web designing knowledge. But if you can design & manage, you can go for it with more advantages, like:
1. You can design it as you wish
2. You have full control of it & anytime you can change its look or whatever you want.
3. You can add any advertisement/referral anytime.
