Hi Pamela !

The primary role of an affiliate or a leader is to build a strong team of EAs and above for the success in SFI business. To make them feel everyone that they are valued members and part of something special would be going little more than the limits.

Does anyone is making you feel a valued customer and part of something special other that SFI itself? You have to be self-motivated, interested in your own prosperity and you yourself need to work for it. I am sure you doing everything yourself because you want to succeed yourself in SFI

As Mr. Gery Carson, the President of SFI says, “It’s you and only you, who can do it; no one else does it for you”. So in my opinion, be an example for them and by seeing your work they too would get motivated and start following you. I do not think; you need to take special care for them. If they wish to succeed in their business of SFI, they should work for it without someone directing them.

Yes, you can help, support & guide them to succeed depending upon the experienced gained by you. Like you can take horse to the river, but can't make him to drink unless it is thirsty itself. Same applies here with your down line affiliates.

The people who succeed are self-motivated. They work with their own will. And the failures are those who shirk work and no amount of motivation is sufficient for them. They are not going to feel anything despite your numerous reminders. This is my own experience; I am sharing with you. I may be totally wrong.

How do you build a team where everyone knows they are valued members and part of something special?

Pam, Hi!
From what I know of you from your Forum posts I am sure you are already very good at this BUT I shall enjoy contributing my thoughts to this question.

Perhaps I should answer the second part of this question first, because I think the answer to this is quite “short and simple.”

I think my team WILL know they are part of “something special” when they view my badges (and note the numbers), see my rankings, read my Forum Posts and see that I am a Forum Guru, read my Stream Posts and Weekly TeamMails, and when they see my name appearing in the “Winners Lists” for such things as Card King, Daily Grand. Leadership Challenge etc, and especially when they see that my “quote” has been selected by SFI and listed in the “Testimonials of the week” – to name just a few of the ways our WORK is recognized by SFI.

What am I saying here? I’m saying that we MUST LEAD BY EXAMPLE. That’s the sweetest testimonial that we can give to SFI and the best way we can show our team that we MEAN BUSINESS, that we are SERIOUS, and that we KNOW OUR STUFF. Yes, SFI is a SPECIAL business BUT it is the PEOPLE in SFI (that’s us) that make it REALLY SPECIAL.

How do we tell them that they are “valued members of my team”?

With CSAs it is easy, EVERY chance I get I espouse the VALUE I put on retaining my EA rank each month – SO THAT I WON’T LOOSE MY CSAs.

But I go further than that, I also espouse the VALUE of obtaining the HIGHEST Team Leader rank I can each month so that I can receive a BIGGER share of the Second Home CSAs. That’s in direct contrast to SO MANY affiliates who advise that it is pointless to strive for Team Leader rank until you have several EAs. No, I love my CSAs, I value them, and I tell them they will be mine until the day I die (which will be no time soon).

With my PSAs it’s harder to express my value to them UNLESS they contact me. Most don’t (which is such a shame) BUT when one does I give them my UNDIVEDED ATTENTION. I answer their specific questions. I give them specific guidance JUST for them. And I communicate with them by their preferred method.

Note, I do not recommend “showering” them with gifts – If they WORK they will receive enough rewards and gifts from SFI. It’s MENTORING and CHALLENGING advice that will encourage them to achieve their best in SFI, that is the greatest GIFT I can give them.

If only my team would take me up on this offer … But the ones that do, benefit.

Good Question.
Team members play major role in SFI's success. They are the backbone of any industry or organisation. Team success is leadership success. Therefore managing team members and get work done from them is not an easy task. Success depends upon quality of leadership and skills. I hope my few tips may be useful for your question.

1. Need of your Affiliate/PSAs/CSAs
The only way you are going to know what your team needs from you in order to be more successful is to listen to them. Sometimes simply listening can help you to identify ways you can provide what is needed.(Identify their weakness and what exactly they want)
2. Be well mannered & respectful
Fancy internal awards and recognition is great, and some Affiliates feed off that, but your team will perform much better when they know that they have your respect. Show respect for their hard work and dedication -- it will create a much more productive team.(send E Card/Message/TCredits/Gift Vouchers etc)
3. Stop micromanaging
A true leader will step back and let his team do their jobs without standing over their shoulders. If you made the correct hiring decision then you need to trust your team members to perform. Your continuous support is very essential.(Group mails/PSA/CSA mailer)
4. Lead by example
Your habits and leadership will rub off on your team. If you disappear for a long time/days or dip out early to shoot other work you aren’t leading by example. You should never dip below the bar you set and expect your team to perform at. (Earning more badges/rewards/awards/365champion/Auction/EZ etc)
5. Be Pleasant Appearance
Gone is the old stigma of a mean and miserable hard-ass business owner sitting in his or her corner office hidden and barely accessible. If your team knows they can come to you at any time with a problem, concern or suggestion and you will hear them out then it is going to help create a well-oiled machine.
6. Stress SFI’s purpose
Setting goals and crushing them with record-breaking revenue numbers is always great, but you can also inspire your team by enforcing what your SFI’s purpose is. Every successful SFI’s business OR Tripleclicks product , service solves a problem -- remind your team that all of their hard work really makes a difference -- beyond just the dollar signs. SFI is to help businesses grow online with its millions of members -- and its purpose will never change.(Focus on TO-DO LIST/TC PRODUCTS/ASKSC/FORUM/EZ/PB)
7. Do what you say
If you don’t plan on doing something, then don’t mention it. When you do what you committed, you will do, you will earn the respect of your team. Developing a reputation for following through establishes you as a respected leader. (Retaining VP/EA/TEAM LEADER)
8. Beyond the Limits- If you never push your team, they will remain stagnant. Sure, the work will get done, but don’t expect to experience excitement and growth without encouraging them to operate out of their traditional comfort zone. You want to achieve excellence and not mediocrity, right? (Send follows up mails/group mails)
9. Admit when you don’t have the answer
You are not going to have the answer for everything, and that is perfectly fine. Instead of pretending to have the answer, use it as an opportunity to demonstrate effective problem solving to your team. (Tell the truth and real facts)
10. Don’t impose fear
Your team will not be inspired if you use fear as a motivator. Great leaders coach and teach their team -- they are right there with them -- not on the sidelines screaming and instilling fear.(Aim High Dream Big)
11. Develop future leaders from within
As your brand grows you will need additional leaders to step up. Give every member of your team the ability to move into those roles by empowering them to make decisions, both right and wrong..(Focus more on inactive CSAs and PSAs)
12. Encourage Affiliate’s personal growth
Successful leaders encourage personal growth and mentor their team. Give your team members easily available books or guide them how to get activate by reading marketing articles and encourage them to attend business networking events. Make suggestions that will enrich their own personal development outside of your organization.(Focus more on Leadership Page/profile page with tips and articles).
13. Hold your team accountable
Accountability makes your team feel like they are personally invested in the success of the SFI-- when they see what needs to get accomplished they will do what is needed to reach specific goals, even if it means navigating around a potential obstacle.(Stress them to Focus on TO-DO regularly)
14. Demonstrate knowledge
You could be the most motivationally inspiring person in the world, but if you lack knowledge you lack credibility -- and your team will never take you seriously as a leader if you aren’t credible. (SEND POST AND LETTERS/NEWS WEEKLY)
15. Understand your purpose
As a leader you have a large weight on your shoulders -- your company and your team depends on you. When you fully understand your purpose and role, it breeds confidence, which is very contagious and creates an incredibly confident team. (Convenience on Long Term Earning and work together towards the growth of SFI))
16. Welcome involvement
Your team wants to be involved with your company’s growth and innovation. Welcome and encourage them to roll up their sleeves and get involved. When they feel like they are part of the future it inspires them to be more productive. Not only does this help the company, but it also prepares them for a more meaningful role in the future.(Award and Reward them with SFI’S available Gift cards/certificates/TCredits etc)
17. Be transparent
A good leader allows his or her team to see who they really are. There are no smoke and mirrors -- what you see is what you get. Transparency also leads to problems being solved faster and a stronger level of trust being established between the leader and his or her team.(Update weekly)
18. Hold brainstorming sessions
Keep your mind, as well as the minds of your entire team, fresh by holding frequent brainstorming sessions. This inspires and motivates your team to be constantly thinking of new, innovative ideas.(Encourage or force them to play Free Games and auctions)

Motivation is the keyword when it comes to team performance. How to encourage and keep your team energy at a high will be an important part of your responsibility as a Sponsor. Feeling appreciated and ensuring that you reward your high achievers is instrumental in keeping that team spirit.

I have absolutely zero input from my Sponsor but my upline support team member ensures that I also benefit from his achievements and I feel special because :-

1. I am surprised every now and then by his generosity - when there are some extra funds lying around (in his language) he passes them on to his team members; he shows appreciation by way of a reward.

2. He supports his down line's ECAs and that means that he buys from his team members, this is an excellent approach to motivating and encouraging others to own an ECA.

3. Communicating on a regular basis with your team members to let them know that you are there for them is part of that team building effort - to create a rapport between you and your Sponsor so you are no longer in business together but your relationship is more of a friend.

You have to constantly and consistently be visible by your team through the team mail, chat, e-cards or an email. Instilling to them the commitment to continue with the business and persevering against all odds. These are some of the messages you have to pass on to your team that they are capable of succeeding in this business and letting them know that you will be there to support their cause.

GREAT question! That you are asking this question means that you care and want your team to know that. My answer is simple .... let this sincerity come through in your messages to your team.

Before sitting down to send a message, really think about what you are trying to convey. For me, and I am not sure how, but somehow, when I am focused and feeling strongly about that desire to show my team that I truly care and have their best interest at heart, the message comes across in my words. I think we must message and type with feeling for it to be realized.

I also recommend communicating with your team often ... about anything. Every message sent does not need to be about advancing in SFI. The idea is to build relationships and that means taking the time to get to know your team and allowing them the opportunity to get to know you. I think if you can e-mail them 3 or 4 times a week it is great and if not, do it as often as you can.

If you truly feel it the message will come through in your communications. One more thing that I might suggest is keeping an eye on the activity of your team. If you notice a sudden pattern change reach out to them and check in ... just make sure everything is okay, offer an ear or helping hand if possible. It shows that you care ... because you do.

This is a great question..

I will answer this by focusing more on 'Good Leadership' and Rewards.
A good leadership practice good friendship and relationship with quality trust, understanding and respect among each other.
Everybody loves rewards. Especially after achieving any success or after completing any Team Project.

It all begins from our honest communication. Human loves honesty too. Starting from our first welcome letter, follow up techniques and the sharings of almost anything.

Statistics shows that replies are very low from our sign ups. We shouldn't give up but just keep sponsoring, because there will be one that will reply. The positive one, and once they do, our communication starts.

Since SFI has already handle most of the training guideline and newsletters, our part now is trying to be their good friend. Enhance communication by wanting to know more about them rather than ourself.
TIPs; Try ask more about their financial goals and their status. How much they aim to receive income every month and their experiences in Business, Sales and Marketing, especially Internet Marketing.

By asking this, we somehow have some good background ideas to start our next conversation and nurture our relationship. By answering us, we hope they are comfortable and can be guide to fill up their profile and goal section, whitelist Emails, upload photo and more... Adding some humour between conversation is also recommended..

Connect with them the next day follow up on their progress allow us to view their conduct especially how far they understand SFI and TripleClicks. Maybe it is also time to mention about rewards (example; a $20 Gift Certificate to create their first sale) within their 10 days also about their FastTrack Bonus.

Get in close contact with them, Email, social media, Stream or SFI Chat.. Guide them , reward them and help them..

I am sure, they will feel valued with how you treated them..

Thank you for your question because it made me think and that is the purpose of a good question. Before you can build a team where everyone knows that they are valued members and are part of something special, you must feel that YOU are a valued member of SFI and know that as an affiliate of SFI that You are part of something special. Thanks to my awesome sponsor, I do know that I am valued and appreciated but what happens if you don't have a good sponsor or co sponsor? Then it may be harder but you are still a valued affiliate of a great company. How many other company leaders check the Forum or really cares what the members are concerned about and are willing to answer your questions? When you became an affiliate, there was no charge for the lessons to teach you everything that you needed to know to start your own business and then you can take advantage of the free tools and resources to make your business a success! Are you feeling special yet?
There are so many ways that SFI shows us that we as affiliates are important to them and so many ways that we in return can show our own team members that they are valued by us as leaders. I really do think that as an affiliate of SFI that I am part of something special.

The responsibility remains with people (Sponsors) who introduce PSAs and keep building their team on a regular basis.

It involves two kinds of action.

What they (Sponsor) do Before and After introducing people as their down lines.

1. Before Introducing people:

a) Give a clear brief of What SFI is all about;
b) How to approach SFI as a business Venture;
c) How it can be built?
d) How the Sponsor will support?
e) What are the achievements of the Sponsor?
f) What they (new sign ups) are supposed to do on a daily basis?
g) How long it can take to get results?
h) What sort of support system including Marketing & Training, they will be provided?
i) How to use them to grow and benefit?
j) What is TripleClicks & how it can be explored to earn more & more continuously?
k) How income can be maximized through PRMs/ECAs, etc?
l) How much they can gain by visiting Forum regularly?
m) How the Founder responds even to a simple question from the new members?

All these should be expressed with a honest and open mind. No blank promises should be made especially on income.

2. After introducing people:

a) Once people understand all these and join SFI, the Sponsor has the responsibility to guide them
on practical aspects of this business.
b) Everything can begin with a Welcome E-Card or TCredit or Cash Welcome.
c) Activities of Team Members to be followed on a regular basis based on Reports being provided
through Movers/Genealogy, etc.
d) Appropriate guidance/clarifications should be provided then and there with lot of compassion
and concern;
e) Every communication should affirm Sponsor's unconditional support and commitment for
the Team Member's growth and success;
f) It should reflect Sponsor's genuine interest in their well being;
g) It should create wonderful rapport with them & in due course should blossom in to a
beautiful relationship based on mutual trust and respect.


Conclusion:

1. When these are done by the Sponsors, the members will certainly understand the great business

In a sport's team everyone is taught how to play their own position and what every other member of the team will be doing. They work as one body made up of individuals. They are acknowledged for their accomplishments and publicly cheered. They know their own goals and those of the team.They follow the advice of the coach who is paid for keeping the team trained and in shape for the game.

In our business we have a coach, called a sponsor. While most SFI teams do not work together as a sports team does, we are all trained, kept in shape (attitude), have similar goals, and hopefully listen to our sponsor, who also is paid for keeping us in the game..

To keep the team strong and successful, the sponsor must help set goals, teach game plans, keep up the morale, and dole out lots of praise for successful actions. While it may be easier to praise one, it is important to praise, encourage, or reassure the others.

Do it publicly in the Stream, Group Mailers, and with e-cards, without using full names. Respect their privacy but build a bond between them. And let them know that you are always available for them.
