You have to start with yourself. If you are not serious about the SFI business, how will you manage convincing another affiliate!

It starts with logging in to your website. I have not missed a single day of logging in since I joined SFI ( X years Y months) and this is the commitment I expect my affiliates to have. My passion and drive shows on my day VP-Streak (ZZZ days). This is how serious I am.

1. I have a worksheet of my expenses and income I have made in SFI since I joined. If it was a hobby, you would have no figures to show this.

2. I have business cards to prove my point. A professional business requires this and will emphasize your point to your affiliates.

3. Your ability to answer questions about SFI to your affiliates will definitely give them something to think about. I have prospects who ask one question and the amount of relevant answers I have for them shows them my knowledge about the company and its concept.

4. A serious business would not continue straight in its 18 years of operation - a hobby would have such consistency.

If you are serious, it will be easy enough to explain to anyone.

First, be honest with your team members. Let them know that SFI is a business. It will take time to build your business from the ground up. SFI is not a get rich quick scheme. It will take time and effort.

2nd, Ensure that your team members know that you will be there to help guide them along. Make sure to provide your team with information that will help move them in the direction of success. Direct them to the SFI Basics, The Launch Pad, and Internet 2.0 classes. Forward links to relevant forum and SFI news posts that you feel will provide your team members with valuable information.

3rd, Continue to recognize your team members, even for the smallest accomplishments. Sometimes the first 2 items will not grab your team members attention. Simply recognizing their accomplishments will give them a boost to become a dedicated and committed team member.

If you can continually do the above for your team. Then you are doing your part. We always have to remember that in the end it will be the members choice whether or not they log in daily and complete the necessary tasks to move forward.

Another tidbit, make sure to let your team know of successful tasks you are able to accomplish that boost your business's earning potential. This will help show that SFI does have Serious potential as a business and residual income. "Proof is in the Pudding" so to speak.

We can only convince others that SFI is a serious business if we understand and explain the basics of SFI business.

Here are the Basics of this Business.

1. SFI is a business because it is selling real products found in its online store the "TripleClicks". So almost all our income are coming from sales. So it is a real business.

2. One unique feature of SFI is many of the products sold in TripleClicks are owned by SFI members! Each member (affiliates) are give a chance to sell their products. So this is a real business.

3. Aside from your profit from your own products, you also get commission from what you can sell from any of products displayed at TripleClicks - So you are in real business.

4. SFI share 40% of its company-wide income to its affiliates. Your share depends on your total points (VP) earned. The more points you earn the more share you have.

5. Another unique feature of this business is, people who wants to get a share from the company earning (Executive Pool) will voluntarily buy because they want the rank that would enable them to harvest more points (matching VP) to have more share.

One of the qualification for rank is points earned from purchases. So they will voluntarily buy even if they are not told to buy. This makes the selling easy. If you recruited this people (your PSA) who are buying voluntarily, you get BIG commission (45%) of the profit (Commission Value or CV).

One more thing, SFI is giving another group of customers (CSA's) that you earn 15% of CV from their purchses.

6. The selling is done in two ways, First is the ordinary way where you pay the price tag. SFI in its desire to help raise more profit so that they can share more, they sell other products through penny bidding. It is important for affiliates to understand that SFI is a serious business with serious earnings potential. It can also be a paying hobby if they so choose. To ensure this is impacted on new signups we should endeavor to;

1. 'Show them the money' so to speak. By employing a payment method that in none other than our very own Debit Card that earns you a badge showing to all affiliates that you are paid by Pioneer. They will be assured of making real money themselves and will be eager to learn how.

- Start building rock solid relationship with your affiliates.

The key to building a rock solid relationship with your affiliates must begin when they signed up as your new affiliates, giving them your warm welcome. It takes time to build a stronger bond with your affiliates, so maintain your connection with them by sending them your weekly support messages regularly. One of the most effective ways to build rapport with your affiliates is when you initiate to chat with them through SFIM, whenever you see them online. This is a great opportunity to establish your personal connection with them. You can ask them about things that matters to their personal development and growth in their journey with SFI. Always offer to them your 100% support. If you practice this important first step and you're a Team Leader/Sponsor who acts on what you teach, being an example to them, then they will most likely listen to you. It is imperative that you do this right from the start to show that SFI is a serious business with serious earnings potential and not just a hobby.

- Get them understand SFI BASICS and LAUNCHPAD.

It is very important right from the beginning of their journey that your affiliates understand clearly SFI BASICS and LAUNCHPAD. They formed the very core principles and foundation of SFI. In my welcome letter to my new affiliates, I always emphasize to them not to leave these two important topics unclear. I make sure in my first few weekly support messages to ask them if there's anything unclear about SFI BASICS and LAUNCHPAD before encouraging them to move on to the other SFI tools and resources. It is imperative that they get started right in the very beginning to make sure that they're in the right path.

- Help them to understand clearly SFI Compensation plan and the Benefits chart.

You can do this by going through the various ways of how they'll earn commissions as presented in SFI Compensation Plan. Provide examples to help them get an idea of their potential earnings. To illustrate clearly the different levels of their payouts and perks, use the Benefits Chart. The SFI Compensation Plan and Benefits Chart are one of the most powerful compensation systems with unlimited earning potential in network marketing business. Treat your business like a business and it will eventually reward you as such but if you treat your business like a hobby then you will not make very much money. You can't control what people think about SFI. All you can do is control how you treat your SFI business. Success is the culmination of right actions taken over a period of time. So just like in a brick & mortar business, you need a routine. Eventhough, you work from home and this business can be done in as few as 1 to 3 hours per day. Without good work ethic, you just will not gain the momentum you need to reach higher milestones.

So simply remind your affiliates of important routine task from the ToDo list. Everyone can relate to a todo list. These are things that you need to do, right? There are things that need to be done daily, weekly, and monthly. Keep it simple and your odds of success will greatly improve. Trying to reinvent the wheel is not necessary when everything is laid out in pfelain fashion in the business center. So stick with the basics and use the resources afforded to every team member and especially the earnings calculator.

Finally, I believe it is easy to see how a small seed grows into a mighty tree! At first it is just a seed. Then it is planted in fertile soil. Over time, it germinates and the seedling is seen. At this point it is hardly a mighty tree and provides no shade. But with proper care and nourishment over time it does become a tree. So it is with any business venture. What is the difference between a business and a hobby? Google defines "hobby" as an activity done regularly in one's leisure time for pleasure.

Well, we have here at SFI many distinct groups of affiliates. I'm going to discuss two groups here. We have those who have a source of income other than SFI that they must attend to daily or in other time consuming schedules; and a group of people who may or may not have another source of income, but who do not have to report in to a job, i.e., the jobless and the retired.

The Internal Revenue Service of the United States of America, our tax agency, makes a distinction between a legitimate business and a hobby business.It is very important how one is rated as to how the taxes are prepared and how much is paid to the government. The legitamatr business gets many more breaks than the hobby business .Ask your PSA what his purpose is for building a business.

So there is a big difference between the two. But at SFI, we can get a bit confused here. Most of us love it. We spend much of our leisure time doing it. Because we know it can take 3-5 years to build, we tend to not push toward completion of an active team and our success. And here is one area that our IRS has an issue with. If we are serious about our business, they allow us only 3 out of 5 years to claim a loss. We must work with a purpose and a deadline, or goal in front of us.

It is wise for sponsors to fully explain all of the different income streams plus the various extra incentives that are within our reach. Don't just copy and paste this information, but take each part and lay it out on the table and put monetary figures on each example. Show them that the payments begin very small, but as they become more skilled at this work, they will make money. Show them what leveraging will do for them.

Show them they can find money to invest by purchasing their needed items from TripleClicks and the ECAs, transfer buying. Show them they can use the purchases of their PMs and ranks of their PSAs to earn their own vps.

Show them that there is nothing wasted at SFI, every page, report, method is important for their success. Explain the importance of goals and help the set useful goals. Then cheer them on when they meet them and prod them a little when they are lagging.

Thank you for this question because it is one that I have been pondering and for me the answer to the question, "How do you get affiliates to understand that SFI is a serious business with serious earnings potential ... and not just a hobby?" is that as a team leader, I must step up to the plate and set the example. If I am not taking my role as an affiliate and business owner seriously, how can I expect my team to take it seriously?
One way that the team can see how serious I actually take my business is to check my badges. They are proof that I am consistently working to achieve my goals. I am very proud of each one because I earned each one!
Another way that I am setting an example is by using the team mail and the stream posts to keep in touch and to keep them up to date on what is happening in SFI and to encourage them to reach their goals.
I also encourage them to have fun by playing the games and the auctions because even though though they are fun, they are also a serious way to build their business. I have won T-Credits, VP, MRP, PSAS, CSAS, etc. by playing the games and the actions.
I also advise them to read and to learn. I honestly think that the more you read, the more you gain knowledge, and the more knowledge you have, the more equipped you will be to able to reach your goals. I also encourage my team not let fear of making mistakes hold them back because they WILL make mistakes. No one makes the right choice all of the time. The best thing to do when you realize that you have made a mistake is to learn from it so that you won't repeat it.
As my team's leader, I realize that my attitude toward SFI and my business sets the standard for our team so I must make sure that I am focused on making sure that I provide the example that I want my team to follow!

SFI is a business opportunity and your business can’t be just taken as a hobby. Hobbies are entertained in your free or leisure time. Here you have to take it seriously to unleash the earning potential and devote your time accordingly.

You should let your team members know that unlike other business set up; you are in an advantageous position here by many means saving lot of your initial investment. They are:

1. You require a space / office etc to set up your business contact point. Here you can do it from the comforts of your home.

2. You would have to employ people to carry out various business processes which require a hefty recurring expense in terms of salary and wages. Here you are free from all those expenses.

3. You would have to travel around to promote your business and subsequently have to take care of travel; lodging and boarding expenses. You are at the comforts of your home while promoting your business here.

4. You would have to consistently devote a scheduled time of 9 hrs or more to develop your business but here you can do it at the comfort of time available at any time of the day.

5. Business developing at SFI is full of fun mixed components and you get rid of the stress that you might incur otherwise.

6. In your business you have to rely on many uncontrolled factors. Here you are the boss where no one reports to you nor you have to report to anybody.

7. It requires less investment as compared to any other business set up. That is also optional and you can compensate it with your time and efforts.

8. It opens up your earning potential in many ways whereas other business may have linear opportunities of earnings.

9. Once you have reached a particular stage people around the world would be adding to your earnings 24*7 while you would be relaxing.

Hello Adri

Many new SFI affiliates do not understand that SFI is a serious business opportunity with substantial earning potential and not just a hobby.

Some even think, the joining bonus of $20 is given to them for good and they can withdraw it even before starting the SFI business. One of my new affiliate even asked me “Can he withdraw this $20 bonus to his Paypal account.

Then I had to teach him that this bonus is given to you so that you can start SFI on a Fast Track. He was disappointed to know that he would have to invest continuously in SFI for few months before he starts earning from SFI.

Many people just think SFI is a simple game/hobby where they can log in & log out as per their will & wish and work intermittently. Whereas the truth is just the opposite.

We need to tell each affiliate that SFI is not a “Get Rich Quick” scheme. It requires a tremendous amount of learning and application of that knowledge in building a strong team of SFI in order to succeed. They must understand that:

a) They (your down line affiliates) must understand they need to give SFI at least 3 years before they think about making a substantial income.

b) A constant investment is required to run the SFI online business and to build a strong team of SFI affiliates.

c) Out of your down line you need to teach them all the secrets of becoming a good team leader and create at least 5 good team leaders like you.

d) Finally you need to make them understand that winners don’t quit and quitters never win. Also the Leaders are great Readers too.

e) If they understand all this, they would automatically get convinced that SFI is a serious business to create a serious earning over a period of time and is not just a hobby to pass away the time.
