If you want to make path to real secure income for future, you must to do both, invest in EA status and in advertising. There are no real money without a team, but you could not share their success (earning, VP) if you are not EA. With no doubt, it is far better to invest in advertising than in an EA-qualifying purchase. How long are you going to purchase to qualify as an EA?
We are here as businessmen/women to make money not to spend it. When you open a business, you open it to sell not to purchase from it.
When you invest on advertising, you are hitting two birds with one stone. Your sales from your advertising will create profit/commission for you, while generating Sales VersaPoints for you to qualify as an EA or above.

In my opinioin you have to do both. EA-qualifying purchase is to safe secure your EA position every month and at same time you also do need to advertising because you are making a TEAM, the more successful members(yours team) you have you are more successful.
For example, if you collecting 1500vp for months but don't have members who work your earning will not grow. I think both are needed!

If you decide to advertise for new affiliates, first ask your sponsor if they will cover you.
If you have done a similar biz to SFI, you probably have your favorite places to advertise.
I advertised my first month for new affiliates.I used their ad samples.Now I prefer the JoinMyTeam website.Just set the new affiliates on their training course.
If you wait till your second month to advertise for an EA, you will be into your 3rd month
before starting a team.

Becoming EA and after that a team leader implies that you have a team. Yes - you get CSA's when you qualify but that is not enough by far. You need your own recruits, your own PSA's.
When you advertise and you recruit affiliates you have a team. When you advertise and you make sales you earn commission. A Team means you can earn VP and money that you can in turn use to qualify as EA.
You will actually invest in both - maybe time into earning VP and money into advertising.

Bought branches in TC. And be sure to attain the status of EA. I came to the conclusion that the purchase is much more effective in achieving success. The team does not just what you do. But your example is indicative and you stimulate these branches to work. Branches that do not register the society better than those that you can buy. As a branch depends on many components.
Advertising absorbs a lot of money. Quality advertising is very expensive. Need a website. Website hosting needs. Should be directed to a site traffic. Distributing links to their gateways in social networks, microblogs, email signature - you'll save money. Many marketing materials in the SFI free.
