Hello Vickie,

I can only assume you are new to autoresponder marketing and we all have to learn somehow or somewhere. I always test my autoresponder after setting up a new account. I have a gmail address that I use solely for that purpose.

I go to the link for my splash page and sign up as any other potential customer would. This way I am not using an internal checking system that would ignore the time setting for sending the emails out.

I check the initial email(s) depending on whether you have double opt in or not. If it is not set to double optin you will get your first email straight away if that is how you have set your autoresponder to respond. If you do have double opt in then you will get the confirmation email straight away and then your 1st email at the prescribed time. You should then get your emails at the times you have set up in the sending(1 day or whatever setting in days you have used).

You may not like having to wait for the other emails but this is by far the best way to test your autoresponder.

You should do your own test run after you set up your auto responder. Be the first subscriber on your list. This can be done adding your own email or subscribing to your own opt-in list. Once you receive a confirmation mail, click, then you will receive your mail from the auto responder. You have just done what a visitor to your site would do. If you are happy with the results, your auto responder is working as you desired.

If you don’t want to use your own address you can set up a secondary e-mail address for yourself, and subscribe it to your own mailing list. When your auto-responder sends out messages, you will receive the outward copy which you can peruse. This is a good way to check the formatting and alert you to how well the auto-responder is working.

Once you are using an auto responder you should receive reports and this will indicate how it is working. There are various things you can look for to determine how well it works for you. Check the report for the actions or reactions of the recipients. For example, you can check for number of subscribers, revenue generated, who visited a particular page, most popular products, who viewed your emails in Hotmail, Gmail, Yahoo, etc.

After you have set up your autoresponder you need to make sure in every way that it works correctly.

This means testing, yes, but in different ways.

First sign up yourself and if everything is OK you will see that you get the messages that other people get. After this don't un-subscribe, this way every time you send something out you will get a copy and this will prove it is still working.

Next go through the form with negative data. Try to subscribe but leave your email address blank or partially filled in. If it goes through OK it is no good as that is a person you have missed as his/her email address is incorrect.

Do the same with all fields and make sure you get an error message when you fill it in wrong.

A lot of people don't test with negative data.

There is simple and easy way to check whether your autoresponder is working or not.

You already placed ad with your offer and opt in form.

If you have another email account you can visit your own link and just enter that email in opt in form and if your autoresponder is working you will receive email on that email account that you have entered.

If you dont have another account then just ask someone you know to test your ad and to inform you whether the follow up email arrived or not.

Simple, just test it from time to time that is all. What should ideally worry you is not whether it works but whether it works as expected. Once you set up an auto-responder properly, it will respond to messages but if you do not program it very well, it will respond unsatisfactorily to messages.

In that case, it is not the fault of the auto-responder but that of the person who programmed the messages in the responder. An auto-responder by design will respond to inquiries put before it if it has the answers. It does not manufacture messages. In stead, it gives out only the messages it was programmed to give out. What matters most therefore is to ensure that the pre-programmed messages are adequate and concise enough to meet the expectations of the marketer. All these can be found out from regular testing and reprogramming until it responds perfectly.

Hey there. Fortunately, there is a very easy way to check. All you need to do is subscribe to your own opt-in list. Once you do that, if your autoresponder is working, you will receive a confirmation email. Click on the confirmation email. After you do that, you should get your very first "official" autoresponder email.

Some email providers may take a little longer than others, so give it no more than 5 minutes. If you do not receive an email, check your spam/junk folder as it may be in there.

In addition, make sure you "whitelist" emails from SFI) or whoever you are testing this out on. Since there are many different email providers, you can easily Google "how to whitelist email on XXXXX (with xxxxxx being the name of your email provider.

If you want to use it for advertisement purpose of your SFI business just put a Key-Code to ensure the working of your auto responder. You can easily tracking the hit from Power Tools tab in your SFI home page

If you utilize it for contact purpose with your down line members you wouldn’t determined that your auto responder is working

Suppose you want to send a Team Mail/Email/Group Mail to your team members to let them know about some important and immediate taken action. If anybody face any trouble in some particular points he/she can contact you immediately by return mail and in return you can solve and clear their views at the same time, by mail/chat etc which is not possible with your auto responder

So you can determine in respect of advertisement of your business to use auto responder. In other cases it will not be possible to be determined – your auto responder is working properly or not

Well in my opinion as AutoResponders have evolved over the years and has in fact become a Internet Marketer' must-have tool. And if you can afford go for the paid versions of established and time tested auto responders like aweber ; getresponse etc.

You must always test and fine tune it along the way and remember to sign up and subscribe to your own mailing list that is for your own auto responder's series of email response to have an idea of how the actual layout and message will be and look at it from a third party's point of view of all your auto responders messages and also test it with a few of your friends as well.

Once you find that all is satisfactory then you go live with version 1

2. A non-software professional may ask themselves whether is cost effective to build one’s own autoresponder, or use one the existing ones, or get a professional build it for him or her.

The answer to your question depends on whether you are using it exclusively for your own need or whether you intend to offer it for use by other marketers for a fee.
If you are using it for your own exclusive needs, you may want to proceed with trials and errors, fixing the bugs along the way until it is fully operational. When an auto responder starts being sent, reports will be generated. Reports are viewable from the same page that you add, edit, preview or delete emails in an auto responder
