I agree with much of what is written so far. But here is what I actually do.
I send a letter to every new person (see below). To my PSA level one I send a letter from me. To those at lower levels I send the letter below. I prefer sending it via my email because the links are live, but at lower levels I do not have access to emails so use the Team Mailer.

Welcome to SFI. Martha is your immediate sponsor and is a great, talented, and successful person. I just wanted to introduce myself and let you know that I am available to you in any way that I can help.
My leadership page is www.sfimg.com/leadership/11877069 where I maintain a blog that might be helpful and I run several contests and co-ops that you can participate in. One such co-op is, I will add you to our free advertising co-op if you reach 1500 points before the end of the month. Send me a note when you've made it.
Also, this being your very first day, do your very best to gain 500 Versa points. This can be done simply. Here are a few ideas, which your sponsor may have already sent to you:
For confirming your registration =>> 150 points
For whitelisting
[email protected] =>> 100 points
For completing your Affiliate Profile =>> 75 points
For registering as an a2a member =>> 60 points
For sending your SFI Commitment Message to your sponsor =>> 50 points
For reading the Getting Started FAQs =>> 50 points
For reading the "About SFI" page =>> 20 points
Total points ------ 505 VP.
If achieved you will qualify for the Fast Track Bonus of 500 more points.
SFI rewards you to learn. Continue over the next days to visit your affiliate page, work on your To-Do list, study your Launch Pad mailings and you will reach 1500 in no time. Once reached you qualify for that month's Executive Pool Payout. Each month you reach 1500, you will get paid on the 10th of the following month.
