How would you approach the CEO or other VIP of a large, national company to become an ECA?
Firstly be very selective about the company. Are you familiar with the products? Do you love them? Would you be enthusiastic about selling them yourself?
If the answer is 'yes' to these questions, then carefully write a business letter to the CEO.

Now what to write: Tell the CEO that you have used the company's products and would love to have the opportunity to promote them for him through an online business in which you are involved. Tell him that TripleClicks has been in operation for 17 years and is rapidly growing. Tell him that besides yourself, there are about 1,000,000 affiliates who could also potentially try to sell his products for him.
Don't go into all the details about how to become an ECA in this letter. This is just to introduce yourself and TripleClicks. A CEO is busy and will not want to spend much time reading a long-winded pushy sales letter. Instead ask him if he is interested in meeting with you to learn more about how to do this. Also tell him that you will call on a certain date and time to arrange a meeting. You may possibly only speak to the secretary on this call, but she can tell you if the CEO is interested or not, and schedule the time for a meeting.
When you go to meet the CEO be prepared! Dress professionally and be on time. Take with you a folder in which you have printed out everything about becoming an ECA. Perhaps you could make a flip chart to give him a presentation, or prepare a powerpoint presentation with bullet points on each slide. Make sure you know enough to speak about each point. Rehearse before you go and time yourself. Make it as brief as you can; you may only get 10 - 15 minutes so use them well.
Try and get him to join on the spot, but if that doesn't happen be sure to follow-up with another phone call or email. Ask if he will need assistance to upload products to the site, and be available if he does. He may already have a web team who could do this, but make the offer regardless.
