This is a good question. Yes, when new affiliates signed up to SFI, most of them would not treat SFI seriously. Thus, it seems to be an obligation for their sponsors to change their viewpoints little by little. If I recommended a new affiliates, I would mail them immediately to encourage them to start studying SFI from now on. I would tell them the first thing they need to do is completing Daily to-do tasks right now and adhere to it every day. Then I would direct them, besides doing daily tasks, to read and study "Start", "SFI Basics" and "Launchpad" right away.
By reading and studying, the new affiliates would initially concrete a kind of image of SFI that imparts the seriousness of SFI business. Then, I will tell them that they can sell their unneeded things in SFI to global potential prospects and begin their own businesses at once, that they can bid on auctions available at SFI, that they can play EagerZebra game and refer their friends via W3 in order to group their own teams.
As time goes on, they will gradually realize that SFI is a serious business and will treat it seriously.
