This is a very good question.
When first joining SFI and beginning to read, doing the actions and completing the Launchpad in one day, you can become a BTL. This is not advisable, because it will cause confusion and many will never be able to make BTL the next month, unless they are experienced and can start working and helping their new team.
Once you become a BTL, you will receive CSAs to start helping them learn to work with a team.

Also, your sponsor may transfer PSAs from their team to you. This can become hard for some new affiliates to handle.
I advise my new affiliates to read the Start, Basics and then START the Launchpad. If they are reading a Launchpad page each day and then read the Forum, Ask SC questions and answers each day, this will help them understand it is best to go slow and learn.
SFI is not a competition, but a business for each of us. I consider everyone on my team a partner. We are each working for the same goal, becoming successful and increase our income. I have found those that have a different primary language then English, do work slower and succeed much better.
After the first month, it is harder to be a BTL without a working team, but you can do this. It is important to understand that you must show up daily and do ALL your To-Do list for the Monthly, Weekly and Daily AVPs. These will give you 532 VPs each month. Which means you must play Games and enter the Auctions until you have at least 500 AVPs. This will also give you SVPs and MRPs. The MRPs can be used to buy items and T-Credits. When bidding on auctions, you are also entering in the Bid & Build game. This will allow you to spin for new PSAs to help build your team. To understand the Bid & Build go to:
