Quite simply, just get them to duplicate what you do every day. Coach and mentor them so that they fully understand where they should be starting and what they should be doing every day. Ensure they are completing all the Getting Started Actions and reading thoroughly the Launchpad Emails, when first starting out in SFI this is where the bulk of the most important information is contained. Follow their progress closely through the Genealogy Report and monitor how they are going, if they start falling behind a little coach them some more, this is all part of being an Awesome Sponsor. There is so much to take in when one first joins SFI, but you should concentrate on teaching them the basics, the day to day stuff that will get them off to a great start, then later you get further into the more detailed actions of how to build their teams and build their SFI business at the same time.
SFI isn't a get-rich-quick scheme, so you need to ensure they know this, but they also need to know that if they get the basics right and follow all the getting started actions, their business (and therefore their commissions) will grow accordingly, and in time they will have a great second income.
