SFI team leadership is recognition by SFI of an affiliate’s achievements as proven by his or her record on the following basis:
TL Title Requirements
1 BTL 3,000 to 3, 999 vp with 1500 min/2000 max from sales or purchases
2 STL 4, 000 to 4,999 vp with 1500 min/2, 500 max from sales or purchases
3 GTL 5,000 to 5,999 vp with 1,500 min/3,000 max from sales or purchases
4 PTL 6,000 or more vp with 1,500 min/3,500 max from sales or purchases
5 DTL 1, 500 or more sales vp plus 5 PTLs on his or her first level.
As you can see from above, every Team Leader needs a minimum of 1500 versa points in sales or purchases. So with the exception of DTL, it is possible for anyone to reach these positions (BTL to PTL) without a team. Diamond Team Leadership on the other hand requires that besides your 1500 or more sales versa points you have at least five Platinum Leaders at your first level, implying that regardless of how many versa points you earn, you still need a team to achieve it.
A leader is someone who has influence, and in terms of SFI leadership that means influence over his team, which includes PSAs as well as CSAs. Apart from this, it also involves influence over other people and activities that lead to building a successful business. This influence on his team can also be seen by how the PSAs or CSAs rate the leader. A rating of at least 3* is recommended.
I think moving from EA to other positions is progressive and how fast you go up depends on the output of your work input, commitment, persistence and a never quit mindset. It is possible to move from EA to BTL without an active team but it is also easy to revert to EA. This is because the stability of the position of team leadership is reflected by the strength of the team. With a standing order of at least 1500 versa points (EA), it is of course still possible to maintain your BTL position through other activities like getting action versa points from Pricebenders Auction but the return on investment is not the same as that of a BTL with a strong team behind him or her.
Should one become a leader without a team?
I believe the objective should be to build a successful team or business and everything else will follow from there. Your motto should be “Behind every successful leader, is a strong team!”
