Along with that, you should direct them to search for free advertising sites so they can start spreading the word. There are plenty of ways to earn without having to invest any money although it is a slower process.
Above anything else, be careful about offering your own money for help because you don't want to create a dependent. Meeting them halfway is appropriate to help them get started but you should never offer to pay full price because they need to be responsible for their own actions rather than expecting you to provide hand outs.
