Point out that their emails are validated as genuine when they join. If they use a different device to open their account than the one they last used, they have to get a new authorization code - via their email - before they are allowed access. These are only some of the protections in place, as I am sure they have other procedures to protect your personal, private information - like credit card numbers, account numbers, etc.
