But, factors one considers while approaching an ECA are product, market (local & global) and most importantly shipping. So, the approach varies from region to region and sometimes within the region as well.

The most important thing you consider while approaching any ECA is the product competency viz-a-viz price, demand and supply(including shipment).

But, we should not overlook region as a factor while approaching ECAs as it's not the biggest factor.

It is easy to approach an ECA locally as you are aware of the market and you can assist him personally in generating sales.

So, I would conclude by saying the approach varies from region to region and even ECA to ECA.
