I've never had an affiliate whose talked to me so I've also never had to answer this question, but from my own personal experiences I'd be blunt. Let me explain.
I wouldn't be rude blunt. Just explain in a few words that this business is one where we rely on people and when you involve people you immediately should eliminate deadlines. Every person learns their own way and for some it takes awhile and some not so much, but that doesn't mean they aren't learning. Time is of essence when working with people. It may feel like a lot of hard work and effort, but seriously? It's not. This is a fun job that doesn't take up much time unless a person chooses to use the 'free' route. If you choose to find your own leads it will also take time and experiments. Just because something takes time doesn't mean it's hard work, or effort unless you're allowing yourself to stress out about it.
When you read on the forum you'll find that all the PTL's will tell you that you need to give yourself two to five years to allow this business to grow, blossom, bloom.
