In my opinioin you have to do both. EA-qualifying purchase is to safe secure your EA position every month and at same time you also do need to advertising because you are making a TEAM, the more successful members(yours team) you have you are more successful.
For example, if you collecting 1500vp for months but don't have members who work your earning will not grow. I think both are needed!
