Even thOugh i'm not good in sales and talk but i will stay say yes... cold calling is a good way to promote your sales and if you know how to put in words its an advantage too. Its more convenience i would say. You can explain and brief them clearly and more open too. Whatever ways that can promote sales and bring more members in... its definitely best to give it a try.
