By definition, a salesman or saleswoman is a man or woman who sells products or services whether offline or online. To make it shorter, I will designate the word “saleswoman” or “salesman” as “ salesperson”.
Well, I am not a great salesperson nor a great marketer myself but I try to answer your question based on my readings, a little experience in marketing and also my encounter and deals with some salespersons.
There are some traits of the great salespersons whom I admire and want to be like them. I just would like to list six out of, may be, hundreds of the qualities the great salespersons have:
i. The great salespersons portray a presentable impression by looking sharp, speaking well, demonstrating positive attitudes and knowing well about their products.
ii. The great salespersons are a great relationship builders. They build a long lasting relationship so that they will get repeat sales and loyal customers. So as in SFI, they build a good relationship with team members to build them as team leaders.
iii. The great salespersons are great listeners. They have a tendency to listen more than they themselves speak. They lend their ears’ to customers’ needs, always offer solutions to win customers’ hearts. As the Team Leader, our affiliates’ needs must be attended wisely.
iv. The great salespersons invest their time efficiently. They always use their time meeting clients or potential customers. As the Team Leader, we must stay focus in our business and spend most of the time sponsoring and leading PSAs.
v. The great salespersons are great innovators. They always seek new, better and faster methods to increase sales. In SFI, they great salespersons always seek new ways of advertising and communicating with team members.
vi. The great salespersons never give up. Sometimes when they lose clients or, in term of SFI, when PSAs opt out, it is a sad thing in their lives but even in their worst moments, you can bet your bottom dollar that success is waiting for those who persevere. They focus more on introducing and applying several methods to succeed.
Having those six out of abundant traits of the great salespersons are more than enough to make us an outstanding Team Leaders.
