For instance if you walk into a grocery store to buy fresh milk which is a valuable to you and you are ready to part with cash which is a monetary value you are willing to exchange for the milk and when you buy the milk the value exchange has be executed the store made sale of something valuable and you the customer made a purchase of something valuable.
Now to your question a salesperson is one who sales something be it physical product or services rendered. To become a great Salesman or Saleswomen you must understand your product love your product and sometimes use your product which gives you passion to tell others about the benefits of the products. You can't sell something to someone you know nothing about. Sometimes some sales people convince customers to try a product with different brand from their known brand just because they know alot about the product (Some may even approach you and say you should try this one am using it too and it has work for me and sometimes show you physical evidence to attest the fact).
So know your product have passion for your product and genuinely have a customer satisfaction goal.
