For 7 years I was the top salesman in the company I was working for. Here is a list which I think makes you a great salesman / woman. I strongly feel most sales people can learn the below techniques but great sales people are born with it.
The following point I want to highlight because I think this is the most important point for being a great salesman. First SELL YOURSELF, if you cant sell yourself you cant sell your product. This is where any sale start, so first sell yourself then your product.
Here follow the rest of my points for being a great salesman:
- Always approach your customer with a positive attitude
- Know your product by heart
- Be professional
- Always be one step in-front, think what the customer is thinking
- Put yourself in the shoes of the customer
- Never lie to a customer, honesty have won me many sales.
- Respect your customers feelings
- Never start to argue with a customer, he might have a bad day, tomorrow he will feel better
- Treat your customer the way you liked to be treated
- Always listen then respond, dont interrupt.
- If a customer complain. Hear him out, emphasize and take action. You will win him for life
- Also very important. Be yourself. Believe me, a customer know when you are pretending.
- If you dont know a answer dont guess, rather tell your customer you will come back to him with proper answer.
- Always make your customer at ease.
According to me; if you can MASTER above points; you can rate yourself as a great salesman.
