The best approach to use will be determined by where you are doing your advertising.
If you are going to advertise in social sites then using you web-page blog would be better because your blog URL will not contain information that is blocked by social networks.
If you are doing Email advertising through safe sites I would use an SFI Gateway. The reason I do this mainly is because the SFI Gateway landing page I use has the sign-up form on the page.
If I am advertising in newspapers I will direct people to my personal blog URL and run another ad in the same page that takes people to my SFI Gateway. This way I am split testing which method is working best in the newspaper ads. So far the best results is by using my SFI Gateway.
It is good to seek advice to gain knowledge on what kind of system or URLs to use but in reality the best approach will be one that you feel good about using. You need to practice advertising in many different forms and don’t forget to track all your results.
The system you learn to be good at (draws more contacts and sign-ups) should be the system you learn to perfect. Keep tweaking your ad until it draws the most desired results.
