I believe that auctions are better. First of all you might win!
But even if you don't win, each TCredit you spend on the auction will equal 1 VP and also MRPS. Try to bid on double MRP auctions. The problem I find with games are you get one VP for entering the game but then you get sucked into spending more TCredit one hints or shortcuts and while you may win more TPs they don't count for VPS. So you are taking more or a risk when playing games.
