That truly depends on the individual. If you are wanting to take the slow road then I guess maybe a few hours a week, of course, signing in each day to do your red tabs. The other time is for signing in and reading something about the company during the week.
If you are on the average track, which means, signing in each day and while on the site deciding to read something new at that time then 10 hours a week would surfice.
Now, if you are on the fast track then as many hours a day you can spend on the site will pay off in the long run. Yes, I know they say the business only requires a few hours a week and they were not wrong. But, seriously, the longer you are in the business you will realize that your business will move along much faster if you spend as much time as you can by giving it your all.
Not only are you able to read more but the more you read the more you realize that there is something new you can try. And, the list goes on and on. At which time, you will start to see where one of the things you tried because you were giving more time to the business has now increased your commissions sooner. Had you not done this then you would still be waiting for your first commission check.
