It is such an important part of our team-building skills to be able to offer, and accept, constructive criticism. We need to remember too, that this could be more difficult online because we often don't know the person personally, and we don't have the benefit of using non-verbal communication, like body language, so we need to be clearer in our words so they are not misunderstood.
Firstly, I think it is important to build a relationship with our downline, so they get to know us, and realise that any advice we offer is only in their best interests. Be sure to send plenty of positive communications, like Congratulations e-cards etc. so that they know we are looking for opportunities to praise them mostly, and they look forward to hearing from us, rather than dreading what we might be contacting them about. When our downline know that is not our nature to be critical, only helping and encouraging for their benefit, they are much more amenable to listening to us.
Have you heard of the 'positivity sandwich'? This is a really useful communication strategy I learned about in a mentoring course I completed at college.
Always begin your communication on a positive note, like praising them for something good they are doing, an achievement they have accomplished.
Then, gently introduce the topic which could be improved upon, focussing on how this could help them, the benefits of making a small adjustment.
Avoid using the word 'but', which can often be perceived negatively. An alternative word like 'however' will be much gentler.
Finally, finish on another positive note.
So an email could look something like this:
Dear firstname,
I see you have been logging into your SFI account and earning your VPs regularly. That's a great start. You are really showing commitment and you have what it takes to build a strong future with SFI. Congratulations on your recent Daily Grand Win.
To help you even further, I noticed that your are missing some of the VPs for your Ask SC tab. Perhaps you are not aware that to collect these points, you need to click on the big blue 'GO' button on the tab, to get the questions you need to rate, in order to collect the point. If you rate 10 answers you get 1VP, if you rate 30 you get an extra bonus entry into the Daily Grand draw.
I have found Ask SC to be one of my most important tools in learning the SFI business. It takes about 20 minutes to rate 30 answers, however this is really valuable time spent. Even if you don't understand much in your early days, the more you read, the quicker it will begin to make sense, and help you grow your business.

Many entrepreneurs get to the top by making mistakes and learning from them, as well as from accepting constructive criticism from their own peers and mentors too. It's important to learn to see all criticism as positive, and helping us move in a better direction.
