You are going on vacation so you want to have fun as well as look after your team. Hats off to you as a leader.

Knowing that you are going on vacation means that you can prepare your team. Start by saying that you will be on vacation and for how long, that the Internet will not be available. (So your team does not feel deserted.)

What I would do, for at least twice the week before you leave, is send TeamMails to your team with plans. Give your team tips and things to do while you are gone. (I tell my team to research the black toolbar/menu bar on the SFI Homepage.) End your TeamMail on a positive note. Touch base with your team upon your return.
