Motivating your teammates can be a real chore, what you may think is motivating may be looked at as being pushy or demanding. I have found the best way to motivate people is to lead by example.
I know everyone will tell you to motivate others by being an example for your teammates to follow. That is true if it is done right. You don’t need to brag on the badges you have received because those hang out in the open for all to look at.
Do not flaunt your accomplishments in your teammate’s face with the “see what you can have if you do as I do” attitude.
“He who blows his horn in public just makes a big noise. He who blows his horn in privet edifies himself” (old proverb – unknown).
The best motivation that I know to share is Third party testimonies, share success stories that are written by someone other than you. Share what others are saying about SFI you can find listings here: https://www.sfimg.com/saying.html
Another place to locate good testimonies and the likes is to log in to the Forum and click on “board index” scroll down to Inspiration/Testimonials there you will find over 90 pages of motivating and inspirational messages. Copy and send to your down-line in your weekly newsletter to your team. (Make sure you include the name of the author to give credit where credit is due, also include the link to the forum post so your teammates can read it for themselves.
As to supporting your teammates that is best done when they are asking you questions. If you are giving advice when none is asked for then it can be looked at as being pushy. If you can see that one of your teammates is having trouble you can “ask” if they would like some assistance.
There is one part in your question that strikes a nerve in a bad way. You state: “without demanding too much.” Demanding anything at all is too much. Never demand anything – always use suggestions to guide your teammate in the right direction.
In SFI and TripleClicks we do most of our communication to our teammates through the words that we are typing. Before sending the note or letter re-read what you have written with the mindset that the recipient would use. If it sounds up-lifting and encouraging then send it – if not then re-write it.
