I would recommend starting with products that you believe in as it's easy to become enthusiastic when talking about those. When that kind of enthusiasm is well-expressed, you'll find that eventually people come to find you and your advertising costs will decrease.
There are thousands to choose from so you need to research. Start off with a list of product categories you like and then do your search. If you like "cell phones" then start there. Read up on the products and maybe even contact the seller so that you can start a conversation and build rapport.
One of the best ways I've found to get attention for any product is with a blog. If you can do some sort of a specialty post, like an honest review of a list of "best of" then that will get you the attention you need without really having to pay for advertising. Again, this is where authenticity and enthusiasm come in because that translates into trust and ultimately sales.
But the first step is to find products that you can really get behind and support and go from there.
