Personally, I think using the autobidder vs. not using it depends on a couple of things:
1. How bad you want or need the item
2. Do you have the time to sit at your computer for the duration of the auction
3. How many TCredits you have to spend
4. How much cash you have to buy more TCredits
5. Time of day the auction is being held
If you don't have the time but you have the TCredits and/or the cash to buy more, you can keep within your price range by using the autobidder and let it do the bidding for you without over-bidding.
If you analyze the previous auctions as to what the winning bids were and what times the auctions ended, you should be able to have a pretty good guestimate of how much to bid.
If you have the time on hand and you're not doing anything else, skip the autobidder.
So I don't really think one is any better than the other. I think it has to do with your level of patience and time, and also how many TCredits you're willing to invest in the auction.
