Go back to square one and re-read all of the steps you should have followed. Over the past year you have learned what hasn't worked for you, so now focus on new strategies for success. I may be great at writing e-mails but stink at face to face marketing. Everyone is different and you just need to find your strengths and build your success off of those traits that you are good at. Keep positive and professional. Engage more in the aspects of marketing that you actually enjoy and things will fall into place. whatever feels right to you probably is what will work for you.
