Hello. This is how I do that:
1. In person - when I give cards in person (which I most of time do), I am offering cards to some unknown people in mall or on places like that. I created a little "brochure" with link where they can activate their cards and tell them what they need to do and what they will get.
This is actually amazing option if you want to give away a lot of cards in short period of time. But, I noticed that very few people (sometimes none of them) really redeem their Gift Cards.
2. Online - when I am offering my cards online, I always promote them with auctions. So my offer sounds like that: "Participate in online auctions - when you register, you will get $12 GC to go on auctions for free!", and I put there a form where they can contact me to get their cards.
This is great option too, but it is a little bit harder to find interested people and give away your cards in short period of time. You will need much more time for that.
