I usual tell them that if I can do it you can do it to. This way I ask them to join under me and once they do I provide all the help.
The other way is convince some one to try as it is free and there are no charges and once they do then I help them perform actions and gain points. Once they realize that they cannot loose there TL or EA2 status then I tell them about standing order a small investment for themselves to be in business. Most of the PSA agree to this.
Convincing is rather an art bundled with lots of other things.
