On a second thought the blog is also a potentially profitable means to advertising. The difference is that in your blog everything is about what you post. But in a regular hosted site there are many people advertising about related topics also. So the turnover here is more likely to be shared. So depending on how popular your blog is, you can profit more from it.
Also some regular sites hav rules about the frequency of advertising and the content of the ads being placed. In your blog however, you can post as often as you want . Thus there are fewer rules.
