In my personal experience, I noticed that my best ads were:
1. Short
2. Clear
3. Simple
4. With some personal photo
Which means, I always write a sentence or two in my ads, from which everybody immediately can make conclusion that this is ad about a job. And I always try to use personal photo (such as my photo with TripleClicks decal on my car which I used to activate my W3 membership). Also, I always put a link of my blog which looks like an extended ad (few sentences more, link for registration and contact details).
Make it simple, make it attractive and unique. Hope this will help you.
