When I first started in mlm, I could not resist the temptation to dump a truck-load of enthusiasm on anyone who came near me, whether they had asked for it or not.
After a lot of unsuccessful "enthusiasm dumping", I have learned the best way to approach anyone, including for SFI, is to find out if there is a need, first. And if there is a need, can I fulfill that need with my business or products?
The best way to discover if there is a need, I find, is with a friendly chat. It is quite easy to slip the occasional question into the conversation, without making it sound like an interrogation. Concentrate on the conversation, and don't let the social updates on your cellphone distract you.
The idea is to find out, subtly, what the person thinks of their existing mlm business, because their answers will influence your further approach.
People developing an mlm business are aware of the benefit of more than one income stream, so I ask someone happy and successful with their mlm business, if they had ever considered adding another string to their bow.
Someone fed up with all the company meetings may be open to hearing about an mlm business that is online only. There are no company product and rah-rah meetings in SFI.
Someone who dislikes phoning people out of the blue, will be happy to hear there is no cold calling required.
Someone feeling the pinch of their mandatory monthly stock purchases will be happy to hear there is no such requirement in SFI.
In a nutshell, find out if your prospect has a need, and then briefly show your prospect how SFI can fulfill it.
Give your prospects a card with your contact details and the link to your chosen SFI gateway, and say something like: "Here are my contact details, with the link so you can have a look for yourself. I'll give you a quick call in a couple of days, if that's OK. 'Bye for now."
Resist the urge to reiterate and reinforce what you have already said. Do not say any more: just smile and leave with a wave and "chat soon".
If there isn't a need, respect that, too. Give the person your card, just in case they change their mind in the future, or a TripleClicks gift card, and cheerfully move on.
