Offline marketing can be effective especially in your own community and country.
People love one on one where they can have their confidence built up,questions answered and doubts assuaged.It can be the best way to start out.
You also reach a wider group of people especially if you at trade shows ,fairs,and seminars etc
However the down side is that,because of MLM fatigue,some people are not even willing to listen to a pitch.
That's where online marketing has an upper hand because you have the whole wide world as your market,people are free to read or listen to your sales pitch and make their own independent decision which they will follow thru.
