When my sponsor was assigned to me, he contacted me right away. I was glad he did, because it let me know that this business has integrity. Then off and on I got in touch with him when I needed some help with some thing I couldn't figure out.
As it stands now he just let's me go on my own and checks in with me now and then. I understand that he has his own obligations as well as I, so we don't make it a regular communication habit. All in all, we touch base about once a month, but we read each others stream and email on a regular basis.
In so saying, communication can be on a regular basis, if you really get to know your sponsor and build a friendly relationship with them. Or you can do as I do and make contact when it's really necessary. But the choice would come from how comfortable you are in the communication.
