I would tell them that they may think they don't know many people, but if they were to write down a list of all the people they do know or any with whom they are acquainted, they will find that the list will grow substantially. I would also tell them that they can learn how to advertise and gain new friends through this business when they gain new customers and affiliates. It really doesn't matter how many people they know. What matters is that they are interested in having fun building a business and meeting new people along the way. Helping others to grow a business and having a strong team that will work with you all the way is a joy and is how this business works.
