When people say they don't know anyone, I ask them if they have a phone book, address book, high school yearbook, any lists they may have of people that they may know through affiliations such as Parent Teacher Association, Hockey league, Curling League, Bowling League. By doing this they realize that they know more people than they thought. If they still give excuses, they may have an objection that they have not voiced. It could also be that they are just not interested and don't have the courage to tell you.
